Cloud Meets Mobility Citrix Agrees to Acquire Zenprise

On December 5, 2012, Citrix announced the intent to acquire Zenprise, a mobile device and mobile application management vendor. This acquisition, scheduled to close in the first quarter of 2013, will provide Citrix with direct hardware management capabilities and gives Citrix end-to-end control of the mobile and cloud ecosystem that supports remote employees.

Traditionally, Citrix has managed mobility through its CloudGateway solution, which
focuses on information and application delivery to devices. The newest CloudGateway
update was announced on the same day as this intent to acquire and demonstrates a
parallel effort to secure devices, including secure mobile e-mail, a secure Web browser,
and mobile encryption and data loss protection capabilities.
 
Combined, these announcements show a holistic focus on managing the end user
experience associated with cloud and virtualized services rather than simply focusing on
the secure delivery of applications and data.
